With Time

by Ameanie, Ada, Rachie

Time stopped that day Yet time passed. The instant I sat down, Life hit un-pause.

So now we stare and see The three years Slipped away. Gone with time, But seemingly present As life hit rewind.

Foolish thoughts Run past and fade. I could sit and listen Not understanding, But still knowing.

Emptying an ocean A cup at a time Would be faster than this. All the thoughts Actions, Feelings, Words created in that frozen static Spill out. It could flood the world, But trickles on instead.

So now I grasp tightly And choke my tears. So much has changed And I feel a stranger But I see you.

And as we stray A fork in the road Loops back, But separates again. We part like the tide And we converge somewhere Lost at sea, Anticipating but never knowing When or where we meet.

Whimsical thoughts, Broken pieces, Shards of me and you. They exchange hands Piece by piece As we match them To fit the puzzle We began long ago.

And as we part, As all paths do, I feel the night wind Blowing you away.

Long into the night I think Of what was, and will be sometime.

all I want is a promise for tomorrow & the dawn was breaking our dreams like bones between its teeth. the pain is midnight ceramic and sunlight lacquer. we're searching for the leftover pieces in the grass when behind us, Mother says to come back and leave it all again. & the dawn could cleave the wishbone in two and it wouldn't have changed anything. we would have lost anyway and split the remaining life clean down the middle to share, and the pieces would have put themselves together when we stood back up. midnight fragments gilded by sunlight in the grass. we would have found it again. we would have found it, whole, right where we had left it. & the dawn was torn down the center but we are awake, and those dreams- & we still remember. & we still remember.

Im so dang hungry My head is heavy like a rock I take a look at my phone Somehow It’s barely 10 o clock I look up from my desk at the massive projector screen I’m like a cog in a machine What are we even learning? I’m so broke I’m negative earning Yeah but that’s probably the dream I pay nothing I’m in debt it’s probably regret Like players in a model like pieces in a game Building up your stats but things still stay the same

Cuz brah Everyone says they’re hiring But this grind it’s so tiring I do nothing all day I think I just sleep and complain A lotta things you could call cool or just straight up lame I have two hobbies but they always change I can’t commit because I’m lazy yeah bro that’s the play I swear on my soul that all I really need Is a lot of things lowkey. but get it to me at godspeed I take a look at my hands and think about my life In ten years I’ll be a doctor? Maybe I’d use a knife? I’d sit at a desk in a tall building do what I’m told A coffee in my hand I’d clutch it like it’s 24k gold Six figs in the bank six figs on da line Damn man I’m thinking this will take a lotta time I chant it like an anthem cuz what else can I do I don’t know if I even want it to come true Success doesn’t chase me but they say “she wants you” Keep inflating my ego I’m starting to look like a balloon I’m high in the sky but hubris is a beast Vultures will find me it will be a sure feast People ask how ya doin! And I say good what bout you! I couldn’t care less but I think they get the clue This place is a prison but yeah bro me too I’d dap you up but you’re a real mystery The thing is if we don’t have any history People mountain people sea you’re just a little decimal We are all so small almost infinitesimal

My stomach is rumbling and it’s beginning to curdle To my left and to my right Just some npcs on wordle The bell rings finally I’ve been released from hell But a tragedy’s struck like a flat tire to a truck My bus came early how was i supposed to tell I guess my bus arrival times were all just a lie So I wait for an hour cuz why do I even try
