When I Am Free

by Ameanie

When I was young My mother told me Run free little one Or else be chained

So I carried on After leaving her side With kind strangers who Promised a better life

But what I found Was a selfish father Who picked back up The trash he threw

The one who saw Past my maiden name Died in a flare From flames of love

The boar I struck The skin I obtained Was just another reason For the men's whims

Forever I have vowed To never be chained But the gods left Three pieces of flesh

A shrewd man who Was blinded by desire Left those lying down On the worn track

Was that the moment Of my longed freedom Or was it just Another set of chains

The shackles of love Are now upon me But why I question Is it so contradicting

I am forever tied To another for life But free to run Together across the plains

When I am free The gods tell me Be free for eternity Prowling through the trees.
