Illusion
by Ameanie (Aimee Ni)
On a temperate peninsula Stood the 38th castle Parallel to the sea
Between the ashen walls Lived two fraternal brothers Identical yet so disparate
Endless banter echoes through The dust filled hallways And bleak grey chambers
But soon, something changed The brothers' hatred heightened Until that fateful day
The eldest gathered all his allies and troops Banishing his twin brother
Like a storm brewing The umbrage twin quietly Plotted his grand revenge
Then, on the eve Of June 27th, 1950 Did he finally strike
The great horn blew Releasing the flood-gate Thus the battle began
Swords flashed, bows twanged Spears flew, blood sprayed Until everything became still
Eventually a treaty formed But peace was merely An illusion, a veil
No one had won No one had lost And the tension remains
Still to this day A hungry monster lurks Coiled, biding its time
On a desolate peninsula Stands a crumbling chateau Forever watching the tides
