I Have Learned
by Ameanie and Teng
Not unlike those in a drought, I have learned to go without, The freedom of doubt, Of myself.
Like the birds that spread their wings, I have learned to fail yet sing, Sing the pain that comes with dreams, For eternity.
Like the truth that I once knew, I have learned to forget those few, Who with hatred and anger spew, Words of vulgarity.
Not unlike stones within seas, I have learned to shield and keep, My thoughts buried deep, Inside of me.
Like the pines waving at the sky, I have learned to try and try, At that goal now so dry, To me.
Like the whistling snow tipped peaks, I have learned to grit my teeth, Ignoring my mind which speaks: I'm lonely.
Not unlike those who freely roam, I am lost on my way to home, Dragging heavily that golden tome, Now forever stained.
Like the moon hung high at night, I have learned to halt my tries, Reaching up toward that light, Still in vain.
Not unlike those age old trees Times when life is just a breeze Others you are under seize, Surrender?
