A Willow Ablaze

by Ameanie and Mingze

Under that one willow tree Where we did meet, I reminisce on the laugh Of which you wrought a wreath And bequeath to me.

Crimson blazes of the sky Could not quell the flame in your eyes And red was the west The world, you'd dared to try Like the leaves that you pried

A millennium ago we swore: The heavens that poured Would never sever The connection we formed At the heart of Gaia's core.

Yet like a plague befallen Your cold ambition Ripped our hearts apart. For me you fought heaven, But I'm the most broken.

So alone I whisper our song to the sky, where you belong. What am I alone? Without guidance, why must I prolong this life most filthy, for you I'd won.

Now dice in hand, you trade Guilt for power, betray Me, a path I cannot follow. Do I run away Or follow your soul's decay?

Humorous are these ponderings, I have seen much somber praying, Yet their motives' never pure. Yes, if I can never see them smiling, I will indulge in suffering.

I'll sit and lament the truth: Was this world too cruel? Teach me life, the lies, the fight, Then like they kill your youth? My faith dies with you.

Now weary, I sit alone By the fire. It flickers with a glow Like an ashen crown beset with jewels. So often, like this, I am prone To such violent reflection in my home.

You'll be past the sunset scene; Neath' that charred willow tree; In the wreath, unwinding its ties. I see it full, the rhyme has died. Why love, why trust, why cry Into this corrupted burning?
